| We are often asked why we designed a paint splatter stencil when surely it is easy to just splatter paint about. Actually, it is quite difficult to throw paint about in a decorative and fairly even manner which we found out when we were designing this stencil. The beauty of this stencil is that you will get beautifully shaped paint splatters every time (and it is easy to paint over when you fancy a change of stencil). This is such a simple stencil to use. First you postion the stencil and use one colour. Then you remove the stencil, shift or turn it slightly and stencil another colour. You can do this as many times as you like depending on how dense you want your splatter effect to be. We started with the pale colour and used the darkest colour last (4 colours in all). This picture shows the stencil done in 4 earthy tone colours, but it would look great in fun colours in childrens' or teens' rooms. We have used the large sheet of this stencil for this scheme, but you can also use combinations of the different size stencils for more variety. |
