Crown Paint and the Royal College of Art embarked on an exciting and unique collaboration. Second year textile and fashion students
were asked to design the "Crown Jewels" – modern, stylish and inspired wall stencils for the home.
Crown selected "Image Furniture" by Kyu Seon Lee as the winning design. It is a design of a chandelier created out of
household objects. Keys, corkscrews and glasses can be hung over the silhouette on the wall, acting as a fun frame for everyday objects.
"I designed a stencil which takes furnishing objects as flat images. The reason I chose to do this is because some houses
do not have enough space or height to accommodate something as opulent as a chandelier, but with this stencil it is easy to
integrate this object into your home", says Kyu. "In addition, I wanted to give a little practical function and
humour to my design, by encouraging real objects to be incorporated into the stencil."

After the success of winning design "Image Furniture" by Kyu Seon Lee, Crown present the next instalment,
"Baroque Cats" by Alex Mattson. Mattson has been hailed as one to watch by "Dazed & Confused" and is
currently completing his MA in Menswear at the RCA.
The cat stencil is a single layer design. The book stack is a three layer silhouette stencil. Full instructions are included
with your order. These stencils are very versatile; familiar items, yet irreverent because of their larger-than-life size.
Together, as shown, they are a vertiginous 2.06 metres (80 inches) tall! They can be used on their own (and are sold separately)
or together (there is a special price if you purchase both). The book stack can be used horizontally or vertically and if you
want to create different height book stacks, you can mask off some of the books. The cat does not have to sit on the top of
the books. It can be used next to the books or in a completely different area of the room.

Cinderella goes shopping! According to designer and Crown paint finalist Maureen
Hung, Cinderella did not like her glass slippers so had to buy new shoes. An
addiction to shoes began. So large became Cinderella's shoe collection, that she
no longer had space in her shoe wardrobe at the castle and had to start leaving them
about: up the stairs, atop furniture, on shelves. Maureen is currently completing
her MA in Fashion - Womenswear at the RCA.
This stencil represents Maureen's vision
of just three pairs of Cinderella's shoes. All three pairs are contained on one
sheet for you to place as you wish. The size refers to the overall sheet size.
The individual sizes are: high heels (bottom left) 170mm x 165mm; ankle tie shoes
(top) 133mm x 268mm; polka dot courts (right) 90mm x 174mm.

The final instalment in the Crown Jewels story this year is 'Antlers' by Bronwen Marshall.
She chose Antlers 'because they are relevant to the mood of fashion at the moment.
Designers and artists are feeling inspired by the dark romanticism of taxidermy and skulls,
from Damien Hirst to Alexander McQueen. My stencil designs are an inexpensive way for people to
modernise their homes without having any real antlers on their walls.'
There are three different antler designs to choose from and they are available individually or as a set.
They work equally well used once as a single motif or repeated.
