Why can't you make your stencils a heavier thickness of plastic? I bought some stencils from you and had some issues with paint bleed around the edges, even when using a stencil brush and removing as much paint from brush before stenciling. Also, the finer details sometimes would bend because the plastic is so thin. Another question. Can you make custom stencils? What I mean is, if I have an idea that is not too complex, can you make a stencil for me? Do you give any discounts for buying a large quantity of stencils at one time? Thank you.

Dear Lily, Thank you for your comments. We do have the facility to make stencils on 250 micron thick film if wished. It costs 20% extra on top of the standard price. However, thick film is not ideal for stencilling with paint. If anything it can be worse as far as bleeding is concerned. You have to be especially careful to use the dry brush method outlined in our instructions or the paint really does "pool" and seep outside the shapes. If your paint is bleeding, it isn't the film, but you are probably still using a bit too much paint. Pick up a tiny amount of paint on the tips of your bristles, then swirl your brush quite vigorously onto some paper towel to remove the excess and work the paint into the bristles. Tap your brush on a scrap of paper and then immediately wipe your finger over the smudge mark. If it smears, there is still too much paint, go back to your paper towel. If it stays put and is dry then you have the right amount of paint. Either stipple or swirl your brush over your stencil. The paint should be light and misty. You can then build layers to get the desired intensity wanted but the paint should always be dry, not wet. Too much paint and it will always bleed regardless of the film. As to the finer details bending, I can only think you are catching them with your brush. You can use a spray repositioning adhesive to hold your stencils in place. This has an added advantage over tape in that it holds everything in place. If you are using tape, take care because all the bits in the centre are not held down. Stencil against them and you will lift them even with thick film. Hold your brush at right angles to the wall and either stipple (stab) or swirl in small circles. Never paint backward and forward. Always work with shapes so you are always pressing bits in place. If there is a bit that juts out, work from the base of it and along it, never against it. This will all help make sure that you don't snag anything. Finally, yes, we can make custom stencils of your own designs. Send us the best artwork you have (vector files are ideal, but otherwise high resolution files) along with any size information and we will look at it. We provide prices obligation free. We don't really do discount for high volume because we don't penalise you for ordering just one of a custom design. So generally whether you are ordering 1 or 100 of a custom design, the price per stencil remains the same. We do not have a minimum order for custom stencils. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to email us directly. Best wishes, Rachel

Do you have to cut out the patterns in the stencil or is the cut out already done?

Thank you for your enquiry Kimberly. The stencils are cut and ready to use. You do not have to cut them out yourself. If you have further questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
